NBA champion Tristan Thompson is collaborating with Improbable CEO Herman Narula and co-founder Hadi Teherany to launch basketball.fun, a web3 platform set to debut in October ahead of the NBA season. Built on the newly live LAYER 1 blockchain Somnia, the project aims to gamify fan engagement by tokenizing NBA players, with values fluctuating in real-time based on performance and sentiment.
"We’re creating something for the fans that lives beyond the game," Thompson emphasized. The platform will allow fans to assemble rosters, speculate on talent, and earn rewards tied to predictions—shifting valuation power from traditional media to the community. Somnia has already processed billions in trading volume since its launch earlier this month.
